>Visit Brother Rooster's Old Shrine
A gutteral cry to greet the dawning sky.
Though it was the main duty of deities of the skies, it was good for all gods to aid in holding up the sky, lest it fall open, inviting disaster to Teriarth once more.
Even in times of lazing about on tori as his shrine fell to ruin he would join the divine chorus of cries that mortals had to train to hear. He could have not bothered of course. The outsider foreign gods had an interest in keeping Teriarth, and indeed they were mighty.
Still, he gave cry or rumble each day.
"A most mighty cry my Lord" the Boarbird simpered.
A snort from Gurata, he knew that even other gods would strain to hear him now. Though, he felt less listless after incense and drink at Brother Snake's.
Indeed, he felt ADVENTUROUS.
Today was another day to go out, he had never liked fiddling with artefacts, that was more that foolish Sister Monkey's play.
"You need a name" Gurata proclaimed, remembering his new servant that had kept on singing his praises while he was lost in remembrance.
Though delighted, the strange boar headed pigeon also quivered in fear. His lord was clearly the best, but what it he got given a terrible name.
"Jahodo will do"
Jahodo coo'd in delight unaware that the name was one of the most common in Hibermato, it was really only a few steps above forgoing a name and just calling out hey you.
Once more giving instructions to the birdbrai... it had a boar head? pigheaded? Gurata quashed the thought. Giving instructions to his servant once more, thus time both god and servant assured that Fionko wouldn't try cooking divine servant again, Gurata set off.
In truth, being a homebody had been unusual for the god of fire and blood. In past times he had always wondered here and there, spoiling for a figh... dispensing justice!
Brother Rooster's old shrine was a good deal closer to Gurata's own, there was even a shorter route directly through an enchanted forest, once known to grimmer names, but in recent times just known as Knocknahara, bound and tamed, forced to stay within its allotted borders more than ever before.
Since he was feeling ADVENTUROUS, Gurata decided he'd trot through the shorter route through the enchanted forest.
From the normal ever present cherry trees and sykamura with their distinctive pink propeller seeds, the sparse trees gave way to trees that looked just that little more real and unreal, ideals from a storybook. Their rustling came at will rather than the wind, and they two whispered without the aid of wind.
Grim cyclopean spikes were dotted about the border of the forest. At once like nails, bones and severed tails.
A unseen veil to bar the way of spirit tree betwixt the spikes.
Such however was not something that could do anything to stop the comings and goings on Gurata.
The whisper of the trees stopped as divine trotter touched enchanted soil. The wind hurried about her way, but still were those leaves at Gurata's arrival.
As he made his way, the trees did dare whisper, and boldness did rise in the fair dwellers.
From the whispers of the trees came to the whispers of the foukae, the fair folk, wee folk and others brighter and darker, long glowering in the depths of the forest, chafing at outsider law.
-A god walks our forest again-
-A weak godling-
-If we eat of his flesh...-
The more benign of the forest could come or go, so what was most entreched...
-Then we can play again as in times of old, to torment and hound and chase!-
Shadowy unclean spirits stalked Gurata, was he oblivious to them?
They gathered together in a dark sludge, a spirit host of resentment, the worst foukae have to offer, spiritkin to oni.
Childish hands, claws and tendrils reached out along with maddened yearning, but as it was about to touch Gurata...
Bloodlight, firelight!
Halo of war and carnage!
Virtue of the Slayer!
How many of the vile of spirit or flesh had been gored and trampled by Gun-Nir-Ataccos?
Unquestionably diminished, but would such beaten dregs do aught to him?
For a moment the forest saw not an overly large hog.
A proud valiant warrior-god with tusks like divine blades strode through the forest, purifying evil through light of accumulated virtue!
In bloodlight, in firelight, darkness was stripped away, destroying some and restoring some, but all fled in awe.
"Too long since a god walked your soil personally. Remember and obey! Chafe you at the binding of the outsiders? Remember how my kin dealt with you!"
-peeled the bark, dug up the roots, made into vessels of your might and glory! Mercy! Mercy! Only playing, only play, play!-
"Merely remember and obey you forgetful beings, for your hearts are too wild, though man goes wilder, holding two conflicting lies in his heart, you forget each day's fibs with the dawn given a chance"
A stomp of hoof.
"Remember and obey! You greater spirits, lax in your cleaning of the forest! Woe to you should I call you to account"
Chastisement given, spirits quelled, the forest was a filled with howls and snarls as greater beings like the fair folk got to cleaning up their home.
Gurata soon left it all behind.
When he crossed out from the enchanted forest, his colours were muted, as if a dyed rag had been washed too many times. Yet, though so, his eyes had regained a bit more of their azure flame.
As for what had happened, Gurata didn't let it into his heart at all, enchanted forests and their dwellers had always been a terrible mess of boon and bane. There was only two ways to deal with them, politeness in hopes of benevolence or power to demand it.
Soon, Gurata was at Rooster's hill.
There was a fence. Not of some ominous cyclopean non-euclidean construction, but merely what one might find at any construction site. Admittedly that was still a foreign sight to Gurata, but somehow, though mundane it inspired more dread in the boar god.
A panicked trot, and he found a site notice.
Rooster Co. had slated the land to be used for the construction of a theme park.
Roosterland.
Gurata dimly remembered what a theme park was supposed to be from Rooster's boasting. A place of joy and thrills for mortals.
Not a standing stone of tori was in place, and there was no shrine to be seen.
Would it really be fine to build a theme park on the remains of a dread oni?
He thought about it... potentially the deosil chi could overwhelm the widdershins chi. Feng sui was never a strong point for Gurata, though naturally he had divine instincts.
He lept over the fence, but all he could find was cleared ground, and even with an ADVENTUROUS heart, he wasn't going to start churning the soil.
A theme park.
Shaking his head, Gurata returned from whence he came. This time, the enchanted forest was a lot more deosil and less widdershins, little sprites could even be seen playing tag amid the trees.
Giving a nod to the fairfolk who didn't wish to appear and thus shame themselves, Gurata returned at last to his current home.
Fionko had inveigled Jahodo to playing fetch. She had in fact been doing it for hours. Jahodo was at his wit's end, he wasn't even a dog. He didn't understand why she wanted to play fetch, he didn't understand why she was able to enjoy it for hours, he didn't understand anything.
Great was his gratitude at Gurata's return.
As the Moonhare rose, Gurata felt a premonition...
The next day, a minor trial would come.
Something to do with those strange laws the outsiders had.
{The next stance picked will cover both the trial and the chosen action, depending on how the trial goes, the chosen action may not go through}
What will you do, facing trial and beyond O declined god of fire and blood?
There's three categories, STANCE, ACTION and EVENTS.
STANCE refers to the attitude your character will take towards matters of the day.
ACTION refers to a single thing your character will attempt in the day.
EVENTS are extra spice paid subscribers can toss into the story, they can make things better or worse, but sometimes they'll just be interesting or give further insight into a setting or character.
The difficulty of this Quest is AWAKE, neither cruelty or mercy is to be expected. There is no time limit as far as you are aware. To vote on a poll option, simply go to the poll and tap or click it, have a care, it's hair-trigger and can't be undone
STANCE
THERE IS A DOOM RISK, it could be one, it could be two, there's at least one!
As a reminder, DOOM is a tendency towards VORPAL and FATAL options.
Joyous
It should be held in heart at all times, but should you always show it? Misery loves company, but more than just the miserable, just as there's those healed by joy, there's those burned.
Defiant
Just as there are times to bow one's head, there's times to turn the other cheek and dare foe to strike again, but who is your foe? Defiance shouldn't become rebellion.
Honesty
They say it's best policy, but there's a difference between lying by omission and keeping your gob shut. If nothing else, truth told at the wrong time can have the same result as a lie. Where truth is concerned destruction best have a meaning.
Reckless
Surely this would never be a good pick? Well, sometimes you gotta put your chips on the table and leap across to strangle your opponent. It's all about knowing when to charge forth.
Methodical
Never missing a step is good, but how many steps will you go like that?
ACTIONS
Face the phone alone
Can one little magitech defeat a god? This won't be a problem at all!
Face the phone with Fionko and Jahodo
They can work together to play fetch, that's promising at least.
Check on the other Enchanted Forest
There's another one with a lake near your hill shrine. It should be fine, after all, you occasionally have a dip in the lake.
Descend from the Hill
Perhaps you could find a normal person to consult in the city proper? Some divibe intuition tells you that a normal mortal is off the table of fate.
Visit Brother Dragon's Shrine
Perhaps it would be better to show your face when you're more restored, but paying your respects is important. He warrants that.
