>Face the phone with Fionko and Jahodo
Why do the gods make wonders, artefacts?
Why did they teach man to write, to sculpt to shape his own wonders?
Gurata hadn't paid much attention, his calling was in battle, but he remembered how Brother Dragon responded to that pained question from one who had lost all to the wonders of man.
"Love, it is love, when we grant knowledge, when we guard it, when we punish the theft of knowledge you are not ready for, it is love that moves us. Would we have aught to do with you pitiful creatures if not for love? Alas your kind's love is lacking turning artefacts and wonders to destruction and disaster"
What did that man of sorrows say in turn?
How odd, that Gurata could not recall, indeed, it was odd that the man's face was blurred and obscured. That grave like void would have given disturbance to even the divine, but the memory of Brother Dragon was warm.
So it was that after greeting the sky, Gurata was in a good mood, a JOYOUS feeling carried from days gone by, washing away the worry for the mortals of Edolin.
"Jahodo, what do you think of them? The mortals"
Quickly swallowing a beetle he had found, the boarhead pigeon considered this. Having the natural arrogance of a divine servant, he at first thought them inferior. From the memories of the pigeon there was only fear of foot or gratitude for stray chips.
From his interactions with Fionko and what he saw in Edolin...
"I fear my Lord I will never understand them, or your care of them"
Gurata laughed, such a common answer for a divine servant. Neither the mortals themselves or the love of them were understood.
Even if he were to explain, Jahodo would hear but not understand. Though the mortals were the receivers of love, they too could not understand the depths of divine love.
Still, Gurata spent the morning telling a tale of this or that mortal, particularly of the more sensible followers he had, it wouldn't do to have Jahodo think all mortals were like Fionko.
Speaking of the young lady, she came earlier this day, fewer lectures at the university to attend perhaps.
"My Lord, will we conquer Edolin today?"
So she did cry as she lugged a bag of offerings.
Jahodo just about managed to avoid breaking composure and cooing over the bag. Becoming more than mere pigeon had made him more interested in food, not less.
"No my miko, today, we will overcome this!"
An obsidian mirror with a ruby back floated out of Gurata's bristles.
"A phone? It looks a little odd though"
"Nicely shiny" Jahodo.
Fionko took out her own phone, a heavy weight encased in fake jewels, with a demonic tangled mass of character keychains attached to it. It was a mystery how she hid that monster in the cermonial garb.
The tangleknot of characters were of course from her favourite show from childhood, Brave Ninja Momolinn, the Masked Riders and Magical Girls. That unweildy title was often shortened to M3.
It was actually a native animated production.
Even a diehard fan would have some trouble distinguishing the individual characters in that ball.
"Also shiny" Jahodo mused, was he constructing some misunderstanding about phones in his head?
After a little bit of struggle, Fionko managed to turn her phone on, and some further trouble managed to take a picture of the phone before her.
"We have to turn it on right?"
She circled it like a wolf looking for opening in a prey's defences.
"Where's the button?"
Gurata observed this with an increasing amount of nervousness.
"It doesn't have any" Jahodo observed.
Fionko pouted, put out that she had searched for something that wasn't there.
"Never seen this model before, is it a factory error, did you get this from a reputable seller my Lord? There's a lot of scammers these days"
Gurata didn't think Brother Snake would pull a trick like that, such pranks were more Sister Rat's play.
A cold chill ran along Gurata's spine, what if Brother Snake had gotten played by Sister Rat?
He eyed the phone with mistrust.
"It has the feel of the divine with it, compared to the machine Miko Fionko's has" Jahodo observed.
"Machine..." Fionko murmured, looking disconsolate at her phone, some strange fantasy was no doubt building in her head.
Gurata took in the impression of both phones, Jahodo was correct. Well, Gurata knew little of buttons and machine, but he had his ways of dealing with divine artefacts.
He vomited blood onto the phone.
"Ahhh! My Lord, don't die of shame!"
"Must we do this every time I use blood?" Gurata questioned.
"Can a god die of shame?"
"Don't get corrupted by her Jahodo!"
As the three engaged in nonsense, nothing happened at first, then a small harp-like voice.
"Zibell is considering returning inside the tomb, er... phone, shall Zibell come back later?"
There, sitting on the phone was a little fairy like being, Her hair was in pigtails, one black one red, her eyes were the reverse, one red and one black. On her head was a crown like you might find on a white chess piece, and her dress was like said piece too.
"Soo cute!!" Fionko declared.
Then she held her own phone aloft above her head, as a warrior might his mighty blade of transformation.
"Come forth my fairy!"
Understandably nothing happened, but even three sets of non-human did not provoke embarrassment in the miko of dreams. Simply she was just confused turning her phone this way and that, as if the angle was responsible for lack of fairy.
"Zibell will be going now, goodbye"
"Hold" Gurata commanded.
Even if he had not authority over her, his voice alone would have given pause.
"Introduce yourself spirit, for what purpose do you indwell my artefact?"
Standing up on the edge of the phone, she gave a little curtsey, at once respectful, acknowledging Gurata's authority, but also insolent, a bone deep pride that was not directed at Gurata. She wasn't disrespectful of the god of fire and blood, but rather something about she herself was disrespectful. Gurata understood that high fairies were beings like that, wild like the winds, but of course there was dissonance here. Clearly this fairy like being was bound.
"This one is Zibell, companion spirit to this model of exclusive divine use mobile phone, Zibell may entertain with song and dance, any song or dance given can be sanctified into praise. In number of ways, Zibell can display and navigate the Altarweb. Zibell can link to other models of godly phones for divine communion between deities. You need only speak, Master and if it with Zibell's power, your will be done"
'Unbound by law and binding, speak of your crime, to find yourself interred within!" So Gurata commanded.
"The great gold monarch, Lestor found Zibell's antics to have broken too many of the laws of the Pantheon of Stars, service was the sentence to curb Zibell's rebellion"
He could force the specifics, but Gurata showed mercy.
As Fionko kept attempting to summon her own fairy, and Jahodo inscrutably observed all...
Soon Gurata was absorbed in surfing the Altarweb with Zibell's aid.
Time slipped away like sand, Fionko had to leave, fairyless and the Moonhare chuckled at Gurata's fascination of the sea of information the outsider foreign gods had captured...
Presented with this source of sources, what will you do, O declined god of fire and blood?
There's three categories, STANCE, ACTION and EVENTS.
STANCE refers to the attitude your character will take towards matters of the day.
ACTION refers to a single thing your character will attempt in the day.
EVENTS are extra spice paid subscribers can toss into the story, they can make things better or worse, but sometimes they'll just be interesting or give further insight into a setting or character.
The difficulty of this Quest is AWAKE, neither cruelty or mercy is to be expected. There is no time limit as far as you are aware. To vote on a poll option, simply go to the poll and tap or click it, have a care, it's hair-trigger and can't be undone
STANCE
Excited
Sometimes being a bit hyped is good for morale. A fizzy feeling can be the pep you need. A cool head isn't always cool.
Suspicious
Doubt is a powerful weapon against the unexpected and malicious, but if you second guess where you shouldn't, you can miss the trees for the forest.
Honesty
They say it's best policy, but there's a difference between lying by omission and keeping your gob shut. If nothing else, truth told at the wrong time can have the same result as a lie. Where truth is concerned destruction best have a meaning.
Reckless
Surely this would never be a good pick? Well, sometimes you gotta put your chips on the table and leap across to strangle your opponent. It's all about knowing when to charge forth.
Methodical
Never missing a step is good, but how many steps will you go like that?
ACTIONS
Contact Corato
There was something about that man, worn out as his soul was, a conversation with that mortal could prove fruitful, and surely the most basic of functions of a phone can be grasped.
Make Social Media Account for Shrine
Unlike a few of the more brazen deities you saw, you're unwilling to directly make an account for yourself, but there were a number of various shrines with accounts. An odd thing for a thing not a person to have an account. It might be a bit early, but perhaps you could get the ball rolling.
Check on the other Enchanted Forest
There's another one with a lake near your hill shrine. It should be fine, after all, you occasionally have a dip in the lake.
Hold Council of Three
With the addition of Zibell, adding Fionko and Jahodo you have the barest of minimums to hold godly court. Would it be of use to do so, and hear their thoughts and musings on how to re-establish yourself?
Visit Brother Dragon's Shrine
Perhaps it would be better to show your face when you're more restored, but paying your respects is important. He warrants that, especially in light of what you've seen.
