Today's promptling release is the above Brown critter!
Make sure to skip this teller’s interpretation below if you don't want yours to be influenced!
Sighting: Brown Promptling
The hotdogger is a name used for many enemies in video games, it's also the name of an enemy in Reversed Reverse Reverser.
It's a fragile enemy with rapid attack patterns, doesn't do a lot of damage, has cool parries involving it, including using it a a bluntforce trauma improvised weapon. It also drops health on defeat. It's a beloved foe, though in special low health challenges and speedruns, it's a menace.
It can't be said to be anything other than a derivative enemy design, but it works.
What is Morning Menagerie?
Each morning, this teller will release a little critter, of varying colours out into the wilds of substack.
A little promptling, if you will. The prompt is the image above itself, it can be a little story, an ode or merely the kind of description you might find in a bestiary. There's a few different categories for this.
Sighting
Is either something like a haiku, a limerick or a wee story between 50-100 words
Encounter
A challenging battle (for the writer) of 800-1500 words.
Recapture
For this, words are optional, simply recreate the prompted critter in whatever medium you desire, crude doodles are acceptable. Even AI generated pictures are acceptable, but do state they are such, some critters should prove quite tricky to wrangle a program into recreating.
The Menagerie Display
Each Saturday, instead of a release, this teller will gather up one of each day’s release in a post for display. Consequently, UNTIL SATURDAY, you can do a piece for any of the released promptlings, not just that day’s. Note that this is merely for the Display. The prompt police aren't real and can't hurt you, so nobody can stop you from excavating a month old prompt from anywhere, shine on you crazy star!
On Restacking
Be sure to say its menagerie morning, and mention
if you want to try for the Sunday Display. Do be sure to restack others if you see them helping the promptling on its way. Thanks for reading, this snowflake will melt soon!
